This is perhaps the most profound question one can ask. You can choose to accept or reject God's answer but how you choose to respond to His answer will have eternal consequences for you.
"For God so loved [your name here] that he gave his one and only Son, that if [your name here] believes in him [you] shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn [your name here] but to save [your name here] through him. If [your name here] believes in him [you] are not condemned, but if [your name here] does not believe [you] stand condemned already because [your name here] has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son." John 3:16-18.
Surely, the question should not be, "God, do you love me?" but instead, "God, how much do you love me?"
Time and time again God emphasizes the depth of His love for us. The apostle Paul, in his letter to the early Roman church says:
"Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God’s condemnation." Romans 5:7-9
The prophet Jeremiah reminded the Jewish people in his day:
"The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying: 'I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness.'" Jeremiah 31:3
Jesus himself reminds us how important we are to Him:
"And if he finds it [a lost sheep], I tell you the truth, he is happier about that one sheep than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off. In the same way your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should be lost." Matthew 18:14
And later, Jesus wept over the Great City:
“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones God’s messengers! How often I have wanted to gather your children together as a hen protects her chicks beneath her wings, but you wouldn’t let me." Matthew 23:7
If this is how much God loves you, what is your response going to be to Him?
